Dr. Kathleen P. Decker, Editor-in- Chief, is President of the Poetry Society of Virginia, with Associate Editors Dr. Laura Guertin and Betsy Wilkening. The book features 50 contributors from North and South America, Europe, and Australia. There are 46 full-color illustrations, composed of original fiber-artwork, drawings, and mixed media, with one artwork reproduced from NASA and one from the Asian Art Museum in Seattle. Each artwork is paired with a poem which speaks directly to it, and both seek to educate and motivate the reader to consider unseen forces such as climate change and pollution, and creatures who deserve our attention due to endangered species and threatened habitat. Among the contributors to "Making the Unseen, Seen" are five State Poet Laureates, and a third of the 50 contributors are graduate level scientists. Thus, the diverse contributors span science, arts and poetry at the highest level. The book is both entertaining, thought-provoking, and scientifically educational in an unobtrusive way.
