GUATEMALAN ABSTRACT QUILTS
"It's All About Geometry" reflects my love of geometric, abstract shapes. They are all around us, from simple squares and triangles, to complex rhomboid structures to the stars above. I integrated Guatemalan fabric into the piece as my family is part Guatemalan. The piece mixes traditional elements with modern ones. Even the quilting used geometric shapes, either repeating straight lines or adding contrasting curves on the fabric.
"Mostly Maya" is a tribute to the Maya hieroglyphs of Guatemala. I embroidered a series of glyphs and surrounded them with Guatemalan fabric.
"Just for Fun!" This is a series of abstract postcards. They are mounted on Guatemalan fabric. They hang in my studio.
